Waitomo Adventures' Lost World Tour

This trip was absolutely epic, and I definitely recommend it to anyone that's up for a challenging adventure, and a mean feed afterwards!

It's not everyday that you can dangle on a rope for 100 meters! Aside from the rush of descending from such height, the view is phenomenal. One of the most beautiful moments in my life.

The beginning of the trip feels like more of a canyon, until you venture further into the cave, and you're far out of sunlight's reach. The lighting from the holes make for awesome silhouette pictures (as seen below).

There are a few climbs throughout the cave, and some of them use a top belay, while others are free climbs, where you fall into the water if you slip up. I found one of the climbs up a waterfall to be quite technical, being of short stature.. but it was a great challenge. There are also a few squeezes that you can attempt, or go around if you're uncomfortable. I think it's a very well-rounded trip, and it's an ultimate caving adventure.

There are glowworms throughout the trip, but ending in silence under the glowworms was magical. Even though I work with glowworms every day, they never cease to amaze me. And I think that was the best possible way to end a trip.

Our guides were Ian and G, who were excellent at their jobs, and we had good banter the entire trip. They were very knowledgable about the cave, and many miscellaneous facts about Waitomo and just anything in general. As you can see in my photos to follow, they were quite the photographers as well. Shout out to these guys, because they were awesome.
