Waimangu Volcanic Valley

This is a self-guided tour, and a little more structured than I would have liked, but it was a great walk. The admission fee is $36 a person, and it's about an hour and a half walk up to the lake, and they provide a bus service back down to the information center.

My favorite part of the tour was Inferno Crater Lake. The water was a beautiful baby blue, and it reminded me a lot of the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. I was really tempted to touch it to see how hot the water really was, but the soil surrounding the lake was so soft and delicate, I was scared I'd fall in if I got close enough to touch the water.

We also saw Echo Crater and Frying Pan Lake, which were remarkable as well. It was really peaceful to sit side by side, taking pictures and listening to the bubbling of the water.
