Kayaks on Cathedral Cove

I had an awesome experience kayaking with Cathedral Cove Kayak Tours in Hahei.

The full day tour consists of two separate tours, the Remote Coast Tour, and the Cathedral Cove Tour. It's hard to say which tour I liked most, because they are both so different. The Remote Coast Tour involves a lot of caves, and kayaking through rock formations. My favorite was the Cave of Healing Waters because it was a cave that opened up at the top to a forest of trees.

The Cathedral Cove Tour takes you to Sting Ray Bay, Cathedral Cove, and around the two islands off the coast of Hahei. I really enjoyed Sting Ray Bay, because the water is so clear that you really can see the sting rays and eagle rays passing beneath. Cathedral Cove was nothing less of what I expected. It's hard to describe the place, other than saying it is a haven. It is so peaceful and beautiful. I would have spent all day out there if I could have, just sitting and taking in the beauty.

Our guide, Hayden, was really sweet and knowledgeable about the Maori history regarding the islands and caves. The tour itself is quite pricy, so I wouldn't say that it is a "must do", but the Cathedral Cove hike is definitely a must do. The water is so impeccably clear, and the rock formations are breath taking. It's a well-known spot on the Coromandel Peninsula.
